Some 40 Dames and Knights from the Lieutenancy of England and Wales participated in a very spiritual and enjoyable pilgrimage to the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands

The event was organised by the Southern Section which includes a number of lay and clerical members who live in Guernsey and Jersey. Invited to participate in the pilgrimage was the Communications Officer from the Lieutenancy of Ireland.

Among the many highlights from the pilgrimage included the celebration of Holy Mass in St. Tugual’s Chapel on the island of Herm and also in St. Andrews Church on Guernsey, the first time since the Reformation more than 400 years ago by kind permission of The Very Reverend Tim Barker, Anglican Dean of Guernsey.

A presentation was made by the Lieutenancy to Rev. Canon Gerard Hetherington, KCHS on the occasion of his Diamond Jubilee celebration of ordination to the Catholic priesthood.
