Confrère Tony who died on 15th March 2022, resided in Ballymena, County Antrim and was a successful businessman in the retail food sector.
Tony was a devoted Catholic and was admitted as a member of the Order in 2002. He was promoted to the rank of Grand Officer, KC*HS and was a recipient of the Pilgrim Shell of Jerusalem on his first pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2007. Tony returned again on pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 2008 and both he and his wife Elizabeth participated in the 2013 Order Pilgrimage to Rome.
He had a critical role in servicing the needs of members of the Lieutenancy and was visible at Order events and Investitures promoting the sale of Mass cards, books, ties, bags for cloaks and decorations. Members will recall his ever-present smile and friendly banter.
In recent years, Tony suffered debilitating ill health, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, which he bore with grace and dignity; campaigning to raise awareness of the condition to help others. Despite his deteriorating health, Tony remained strong in faith and it is poignant that he returned to the Lord, whilst watching a streamed Mass in the loving company of his devoted wife and family.
Our condolences to Elizabeth, their children Mark, Sharon, Joy and extended family and friends.
May he rise to eternal glory.
