Neutrality for Peace and Humanity: An Alternative to Militarism and War

23rd ApriI 7.30 PM

OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION PASTORAL CENTRE, BOOTERSTOWN

This Easter season, Skellig reflects on the centrality of Peace – an enduring message of Our Lady of Fatima and a theme championed by successive Popes. In this spirit, Skellig welcomes Commandant Dr Edward Horgan, one of Ireland’s leading experts in Peace Studies and International Relations, to speak on Neutrality as a humane alternative to militarism and war.

Dr Horgan, who served 22 years in the Irish Defence Forces and participated in UN peacekeeping and global election missions, will explore the morality of war, international chaos, and Ireland’s foreign policy stance. An accomplished writer, lecturer, and peace activist, he continues to advocate through roles with the Irish Peace and Neutrality Alliance, Shannonwatch, and World BEYOND War. His online talk will include space for questions and discussion, with his latest paper available to attendees.
