Over the weekend of 7th-9th October 2022, the Lieutenant and his wife Nora, accompanied by our Communications Officer, were guests of the Lieutenancy of Hungary on the occasion of the investiture of
His Excellency Dr. Béla Jungbert was extremely gracious in his welcome to the visiting representatives from Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Croatia.
On the Sunday morning Holy Mass was celebrated in the Hermina Memorial Chapel, named after Archduchess Hermine Amalia of Austria, in which are displayed relics of Blessed Emperor Karl (King Charles IV of Hungary); The Holy Cross; Calvary and Blessed Bartolo Longo.
The Chapel was inaugurated on September 8th 1856 by Cardinal János Scitovszky, Archbishop of Esztergom in the presence of the composer Franz Liszt, Knight Grand Cross of our Order, who composed and personally conducted a musical piece ‘Mass for Male Voices’ with organ accompaniment for the occasion.
It was an enjoyable honour to hear the piece performed during the celebration of Holy Mass by a distinguished baritone of the Lieutenancy, Confrere Miklós Zsolt Tóth, KHS.
