Feast day of St Oliver Plunkett; Drogheda, Sunday 6, July 2025
The celebration of the Eucharist to mark the 400th. anniversary of the birth of St Oliver Plunkett, Martyred Archbishop of Armagh, and the 50th. anniversary of the Canonisation of St Oliver by Pope Saint Paul VI in J 975, will take place in Drogheda on Sunday 6 July next.
The ceremonies will commence at Holy Family Church Ballsgrove A92 W2PW commencing at 3,00pm You are requested to assemble at the Church by 2.45pm. Tea and coffee will be available in the Holy Family parish centre up to 2.30pm. Please park as directed. The relics will be carried downhill (c 1.25km), from that Church through the streets of the town, to St Peter’s Church in West Street where Mass will be celebrated at 4,00pm, The Archbishop of Annagh. His Grace Dr Eamon Martin KC*HS, shall lead the ceremonies, accompanied inter alia by Bishop Tom Deenihan, KC*HS, Bishop of Meath.
Cloaks will be worn.
There will be refreshments served after the celebration of Mass in the Marcy Hotel West Street, opposite St Peter Church.
